Join us for this Alumni Business Dialogue Breakfast in Port Elizabeth where MC Botha, head of USB’s Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management, will talk about “Redefining the role of a project manager in the business context”.

Organizations are facing increasingly complex challenges, having to contend with rapid changes stemming from constant obsolescence of their products, the necessity for rapid response to their markets and moving fast when faced with opportunities. Project management is concerned with delivering a specified, deliverable by a specific team representing the various specialist skills required, against planned performance, time and cost targets. Therefore, project management fundamentally enables the implementation of organization strategy. The question beckons, does the traditional approach of upskilling project managers in implementation suffice in a dynamic and complex business environment. Should the project manager not become part and parcel of the front end of the project process where the interface between strategy, business and projects take place?
