GAUTENG ALUMNI BUSINESS DIALOGUE & AGM

18 OCTOBER 2017

Join us for this Alumni Business Dialogue and AGM in Johannesburg where Dr Lulu Gwagwa will talk about “Infrastructure and the economy and development”.

During her talk she will discuss the following:

According to the Banking Association, infrastructure is at the heart of ongoing dialogue on sustainable, socially cohesive growth oriented development and economic competitiveness, performance and transformation. And in the development of infrastructure, the NDP warns that infrastructure investment should be made “in a structured, considered manner to prevent inappropriate initiatives, protect South Africa’s resources and ensure priority investments are efficiently implemented”.

  • The question then becomes how do we achieve these objectives?
  • How do we ensure that needs of users are appropriately understood, and appropriately served?
Experience has shown that unless infrastructure development is driven and managed by diverse teams throughout the cycle, we are not likely to achieve our goals of inclusive and innovative infrastructure. We need diverse teams at all levels: policy maker; engineers; contractors; and operators.
